November 10, 2016
Coming in only second to water, coffee is the most highly consumed beverage worldwide. Whether it's at home, in the office, at school, in parks, in coffee shops, in bookstores, on dates etc. it's a delightfully addictive product and many people simply cannot start their day without it. The good news is that there are studies suggesting that it may not just be a favorite pastime but it's consumption may also present some health benefits to its consumers. We will look at some of the possible health benefits below.
-
Coffee due to its caffeine content may improve energy levels thereby improving memory, mood, alertness, efficiency and some brain function. It acts as a natural stimulant and stress reliever which may be helpful for persons needing to stay alert for an early morning business meeting. Or for someone needing to stay up late to study for that very important exam etc.
-
Coffee may help with improving athletic performance and fitness as it provides that jolt of energy necessary for such physical exertions.
-
Coffee is one of the biggest sources of antioxidants and is arguably one of the healthiest beverages out there.
-
Coffee contains many essential nutrients. A single cup of coffee may contain Riboflavin, Pantothenic Acid, Manganese and Potassium, Magnesium and Niacin.
-
Coffee is said to have fat burning properties and this is why caffeine is sometimes found in fat burning supplements. Several studies show that caffeine may also boost the metabolic rate by between 4-11%.
-
Coffee may have health benefits for the liver. Studies have suggested that coffee consumption may protect against cirrhosis which is a build up of scar tissue on the liver. Of course one should always consult with their doctors or physicians before proceeding with consumption especially if there are underlined health issues involved.
-
Studies have also suggested that consuming coffee may also assist with improving cardiovascular health and lowering the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease later in life.
-
There are also studies out there suggesting that coffee could possibly help reduce the risk of one developing Type 2 Diabetes.
While one should not take all of these possible health benefits as absolute facts without doing their due diligence, being a coffee addict may have it's benefits.
